About This Pilgrimage

Join the Parish of St. Francis by the Sea on a Catholic Pilgrimage to Italy

The St. Francis by the Sea pilgrimage travels to Italy for eight nights, with daily Holy Mass at the sacred sites. Four nights are spent in Assisi so that pilgrims have plenty of time to pray and take in the beauty of St. Francis’ hometown.

From Assisi the group visits La Verna, the mountain of the stigmata, and then the Portiuncula and the hermitage caves of the first brothers on Mount Subasio. Crossing the Apennines, the group venerates the Eucharistic miracle of Lanciano, then keeps the Feast of Saint Francis in San Giovanni Rotondo, at the tomb of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, with an afternoon at the grotto of Saint Michael the Archangel on the Gargano.

The pilgrimage ends where the Church began: a Wednesday audience with the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Square, with potential reserved seating for every pilgrim, and an afternoon in St. Peter’s Basilica at the tomb of the Apostle. For those who wish to stay, an optional three-night Rome extension opens the great basilicas, the catacombs of the Appian Way, and the centro storico. Father Daniel and Brother Kolbe travel with the group as chaplains, and a ProRome Tour Manager is with the group throughout.

A daypack, refillable water bottle, universal power adapter, sunglasses, and prescription medications in original containers round it out.
