Joseph and Rachel Long – Directors – ProRome Tours and Summer Programs
In 2014 Joe Long completed a graduate degree in Church History at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. He then decided to dedicate himself to educating Catholics through travel. As the executive director of ProRome, Joe directs a variety of summer programs and pilgrimages throughout Europe.
Rachel Long has a BA in Theology from Ave Maria University and helps to take care of the many logistical details of the program. Joe and Rachel were married in December of 2016. Since then they have been living in both Italy and the United States.
Dr. Mark J. Clark – Academic Dean – Catholica Summer Program
Dr. Clark received his Ph.D. in Medieval History from Columbia University in 2002. Currently the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Catholic University of America, Dr. Clark is also a professor of Theology, History and Latin at Catholic University. Dr. Clark comes to Rome every summer with his wife and family in order to teach young men in the history and language of the Faith.
Carol Long – Academic Dean – Bella Vita Summer Program
Mrs. Long completed an MA in Renaissance Art History at Villa Schifanoia Graduate School of Fine Arts in 1981. She eventually moved to Pennsylvania to teach Art History at the University of Scranton, where she resided until 2014. She now lives with her family in Staunton, VA.
Robert Long – Residence Director – Catholica Summer Program
During the year Robert serves as the athletic director at Great Hearts Irving, a classical charter school in Irving, TX. A graduate of the University of Dallas (BA ’13), Robert enjoys traveling, marathon running and spending time with his family.
Elizabeth Zuranski – Residence Director – Bella Vita Summer Program
Elizabeth serves as the Residence Director of Bella Vita Summer Program. In 2016 she graduated from Thomas More College with a BA in the Liberal Arts. During her time at Thomas More College she spent a semester studying in Rome and immediately fell in love with the Eternal City. She looks forward to sharing her love for Rome with all of the girls at Bella Vita.
Andrew Goyer – Counselor – Catholica Summer Program
Andrew is a rising-senior at Providence College from Oldwick, New Jersey. As a Theology Major and Music Minor, he immerses himself in the Music Ministries that Providence College’s Campus Ministry has to offer. He coordinates and participates in the St. Dominic Ensemble and the St. Cecilia Ensemble at Providence College, offering his musical talents to God. Andrew loves the city of Rome and energetically serves the boys at Catholica Summer Program.
Fiona Wirth – Counselor – Bella Vita Summer Program
Fiona was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and is currently a senior at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. She is an honors student studying Art History, concentrating in Museum Studies, with a minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. She spent a semester studying in Italy and loves all things Italian. She plans on pursuing a graduate program in Renaissance Art or Museum Education in 2018.
Patrick McKenna – Counselor – Catholica Summer Program
Patrick enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Reserve out of high school in
2011 and is currently serving with one deployment. He graduated Christendom College in Front
Royal, VA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology in 2015. Patrick has been to Rome twice
before, once with his former high school and once for the Christendom Rome Semester. He
enjoys rugby, history and Irish music and looks forward to being in Rome again.
Bethany Bateman – Counselor – Bella Vita Summer Program
Bethany was born and raised on a farm in northeast Pennsylvania with her ten siblings. She is currently working for “The Art Of
Being a Woman” and absolutely loves working with young women. She recently spent some time living in Rome and fell in love with the city, so rich in beauty, art and history. It is her dream come true to be a part of the Bella Vita Summer Program and she is greatly look forward to sharing this life-changing experience with others.
Maurizio Rossi – Tour Director – ProRome
Maurizio Rossi was born in Bologna in 1969. He studied International Law (BA) at the prestigious Paris West University Nanterre La Défense and went on to study Diplomacy (MA) at the University of Bologna. In 1997 he founded Viaggia Zalay, a cultural association whose main objective is to lead groups in culturally immersing trips around the world. He has visited more than 150 countries and in at least 90 of these nations went as the tour guide. He lived abroad for 16 years, in France, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco and the United States, learning to speak and write fluently in ten different languages.
Maurizio is a devout Catholic and is married with two young children. He and his family live outside of Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. He joined ProRome in 2015 and looks forward to serving you in Europe.
