We’re actively searching for an office administrator in the US, a tour director in Rome during the summer months and a seasonal tour director to lead at least two tours each year throughout Europe. 

Office Administrator – Charlottesville, VA

We’re looking for a part-time secretary at our office in Charlottesville, VA. The job is 20 hours per week and the pay starts at $14.00 per hour, with generous opportunity for bonuses and raises.

As a full-service tour operator we plan and operate trips to Europe for schools, parishes and other private groups. The number of details that goes into the planning of each trip is immense. That’s where an office administrator comes in. We’re looking for someone who loves our mission and knows how to administrate well. The ideal candidate is an optimistic person who works hard. 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma (BA preferred)
  • Developed office organization skills and techniques
  • High degree of multi-tasking and time management capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Integrity and professionalism
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and disseminate correspondence, memos and forms
  • File and update contact information of employees, customers, suppliers and external partners
  • Answer and return phone calls
  • Support and facilitate the completion of regular reports
  • Maintain a filing system, hard and digital
  • Check frequently the levels of office supplies and place appropriate orders
  • Document business expenses and hand in reports

Summer Tour Director – Rome, Italy

We’re looking for a full-time (temporary) tour director in Rome, Italy. The job runs from May – August and the pay is competitive. ProRome will house this person in Rome for the summer.

We operate a number of Catholic high school trips to Rome and beyond every summer. We’re looking for someone who is available during the summers to lead about 5-7 of these trips. Each trips lasts approx. 10 days. The ideal candidate is a hard-working and optimistic person, fluent in Italian, well-trained in history and Catholic culture and very knowledgable of the city of Rome – its geography, history, art and culture. Advanced interpersonal skills, strong communication, adaptability and flexibility are a few of the necessary qualities of our tour directors. Our tour directors must also be dedicated to the magisterium of the Catholic Church. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead high schools groups of 20 – 40 students through Rome and all of Italy
  • Give on-site lectures throughout Rome and all of Italy
  • Act as day-to-day guide, interpreter and manager of the group
  • Have detailed knowledge of hotels, sights, restaurants, transport, souvenirs, prices, etc.
  • Develop a series of information sources and contacts that can be of assistance when required.
  • Deal directly with each traveller’s issues and concerns, ensuring that passenger satisfaction is effectively achieved.
  • Maintain the established travel itinerary as closely as possible, making changes only when necessary.
  • Make reservations for accommodation, transportation and activities as required.
  • Assist and accompany clients during optional activities and meals.
  • Advise clients on suitable restaurants, additional transport requirements, purchase of souvenirs, etc.
  • Maintain daily expenditure accounts, retain receipts and keep expenses within the trip budget provided.
  • Provide a report for each trip, in the requested format.
  • Keep the trip notes updated in the standardized format.

Requirements:

  • At least two years experience leading groups through Italy
  • BA degree (MA preferred) in History, Classics, the Humanities or the Arts
  • Fluency in both Italian and English
  • A developed and advanced knowledge of the city of Rome
  • High degree of multi-tasking and time management capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Integrity and professionalism

Tour Director – Europe

We’re looking for a tour director to lead ProRome trips throughout Europe.  This person can be based in the US or Europe and must be available for at least two 10-day tours throughout Europe each year. The pay is competitive. 

We operate a number of private Catholic group trips to Europe every year. We’re looking for someone who is available to lead at least two ProRome trips each year. Each trips lasts approx. 10 days. The ideal candidate is a hard-working and optimistic person, fluent in a European language(s), well-trained in history and Catholic culture and very knowledgable in European and Catholic Church history. Advanced interpersonal skills, strong communication, adaptability and flexibility are a few of the necessary qualities of our tour directors. Our tour directors must also be dedicated to the magisterium of the Catholic Church.
